10k Classic – Harcourts Cooper & Co Devonport Half Marathon

10k Classic

10K CLASSIC

Mostly flat and fully awesome, the 10k Classic is one for the speedsters. The course takes in one lap of the half marathon course, heading north to Narrow Neck Beach before returning to Devonport village via North Head. There's a very leisurely 9am start to look forward to, leaving you plenty of time to get ready to run whilst cheering on the half marathoners.

The 10k takes place entirely on traffic controlled roads with a total road closure near the venue and a lane closure around Narrow Neck. You'll get to enjoy the amazing views accompanied only by the sound of running shoes on tarmac. What a treat!

Series points are on the line in both the Classic and Classic Walk categories of the Shoe Science Auckland Half Marathon Series. This is your chance to get your pursuit of season-long glory off to a great start at Race One of the series.

 The Course

The 10k Classic course is a spectacular tour of the eastern side of the Devonport peninsula which takes in landmark such as Narrow Neck beach, the Torpedo Bay Navy Museum, the Devonport foreshore and the spectacular views from North Head.

The course is a mix of closed road running, footpaths, some trail paths through North Head and the shell path on the Devonport seawall. Terrain is mostly flat with a bump on Vauxhall Rd and a gentle rise to the turnaround point plus the more challenging climb up North Head (but, oh, those views!).
